Poland-Subsidy-Week-Two

From "can we sell it" to "can it be installed" — the bottleneck moved in week two.
Poland's ~PLN 1bn home battery subsidy opened on 20 October and is now into its second week. The window runs to 1 October 2027 — or closes early if funds run out.
After week one, the conversation has shifted from "how much is the subsidy" to "can this actually be executed." Three details tend to block channels.
DETAIL 1 — Capacity matching, not maximising
The ≥10 kWh threshold sets eligibility, not the optimum. For a typical Polish household with existing solar and night-time self-consumption, 10–20 kWh covers the load. Oversizing raises upfront cost and payback; undersizing misses the threshold. What's needed is tiering by daily consumption, not pushing the largest unit.
DETAIL 2 — Inverter compatibility decides whether a project lands
The subsidy targets households that already have grid-connected solar, so most projects are retrofits. The first gate isn't the battery — it's the existing inverter. Brand and model compatibility? CAN/RS485 support? Firmware upgrades, and who performs them? Deals that get agreed often stall at the site survey. Channels need a compatibility list covering common inverter models far more than a higher cycle count on a datasheet.
Subsidy windows rarely drain evenly. In comparable European markets, demand concentrates in the first half of the window — and the "closes early when funds run out" clause pushes households to apply sooner. Stocking plans can't assume a flat twelve months. Delivery certainty in the first 3–6 months decides who gets the orders. In a subsidy market, stockouts hurt channel relationships more than a 5% price gap.
GREECE — the node has arrived; wait for the official text
Reports indicated Greece's HEDNO would publish technical and safety requirements for plug-in solar and household batteries by 31 October 2026. That date has passed, and the content should be taken from the official HEDNO publication — not inferred. When it lands, three things matter: permitted grid-connection methods, capacity limits, and safety test items. Those determine the access path for plug-in products.
