Past 500,000 installs, Australia's home storage growth now comes from retrofits, not new solar. Three numbers to get clear before the show floor.
All Energy Australia opens in Melbourne next week — here are three numbers worth taking to the show floor.
500,000 — home batteries installed so far under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program. Past this scale, installer networks, grid processes and after-sales systems tend to standardise. It gets easier for newcomers, not harder.
153 — batteries installed for every 100 new solar systems in H1 2026. A ratio above 100% means one thing: existing solar owners are retrofitting. So the channel conversation is no longer "should we do storage" — it's "how do we make retrofits faster and simpler."
A$7.2B / 2 million homes by 2030 — funding has grown from A$2.3B, and eligibility spans 5–100 kWh. Against the 2 million target, roughly 1.5 million installs remain. That's the floor for the next four years of demand.
Four questions worth asking at the booth:
• How do you handle retrofits with existing inverters — what's your protocol compatibility coverage?
• What are real grid-approval timelines across NSW, Victoria and Queensland?
• What delivery commitments can you make during a subsidy window?
• How fast do replacement units reach installers after a fault report?
